Babich acknowledges, per the request of Governor Knight, the letter from Carswell of December 2 regarding the request made for clemency for Subject No. 17095 assuring Carswell that Governor Knight will not consider another application for executive clemency from this subject until October, 1955.

A form letter addressed to a parolee from Abilene, Texas from Walter A. Gordon, Chairman, Adult Authority (by E. A. Burkhart, Executive Secretary, Adult Authority), Sacramento 14, California, dated December 31, 1951. Burkhart informs Subject that his application for Commutation of Sentence has been referred by the Governor to the Adult Authority for review and recommendation. The letter advises of assistance to be given from their office in preparing said application and provides a list of requirements pertaining to the preparation of the application.

A handwritten report providing background data including events and dates regarding Subject No. 17095 including the notation advising that Governor Knight would consider a new application in October of 1955.

A letter addressed to Governor Knight, Sacramento 14, California, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board dated December 2, 1953. Carswell requests a telephone conference regarding the recommendation of a commutation of sentence for Subject No. 17095 which has not yet been acted upon. A handwritten notation by Carswell indicates having read a reply given to Subject from Governor Knight advising that Governor Warren had turned down the request before he left office December 3, 1953.

A letter written to Mr. Walter A. Gordon, Administrator, Interstate Compact, Sacramento 14, California, from Howard Carney, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact (by Betty Christian, Chief, Parole Division), Department of State, Texas dated December 10, 1953. Christian advises Gordon regarding a monthly report for Subject No. 17095 and requests to be advised if Subject is eligible for a release from reporting. Typewritten at the bottom of the page is correspondence from B C [Betty Christian] to Mr. Carswell expressing her appreciation for the receipt of the monthly report on Subject and for his assistance in this work.

A formal request from the state of California for a Pre-Parole Investigation for Inmate 9803-A. The request is dated December 15, 1950 and is addressed to John B. Shepperd, Secy of State, Austin, Texas, Attn: Miss Sybil Dickinson, Austin, Texas from Fred Finsley, Deputy Administrator Parole Matters, Sacramento, California. Attached is an institutional processing photograph of Inmate 9803-A, Folsom State Prison.
