From purpose of survey: The purpose of this survey is to provide data from which to determine the suitability of portions of Camp Stewart for use as a tank firing range.

Preface: This report presents the results of condition surveys of taxiway 5 and the east N-S runway, McCoy Air Force Base, Orlando, Florida, made in accordance with addendum 3 to Instructions and Outline, "Condition Surveys for Existing Pavements."

Results of a hydraulic model investigation based on locks in the Arkansas River before the construction of additional locks. "Model studies of the filling and emptying system proposed for use at the low-lift locks in the Arkansas project were conducted to confirm the adequacy of the original design hydraulic system, and to develop, if needed, improvements in the system" (p. 2).

This report is concerned with that part of the Texas Water Project located in the Cypress Creek and Sulphur River Basins and within the New Orleans District (NOD) of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. The geological reconnaissance reported herein was performed for the NOD to provide a basis for estimating costs and determining the feasibility of construction of 5 dams and reservoirs, 1 tunnel, 15 pump stations, and about 110 miles of transmission channel and the enlargement of 2 existing reservoirs.

Abstract: "Results of an investigation conducted to determine the engineering feasibility of using dredged material to expand an existing marshland area are presented. Dredged material obtained from maintenance dredging operations was found suitable for use as marsh substrate and site conditions were found adequate for construction of a containment facility. Factors evaluated in the study include site-specific feasibility of marsh expansion using dredged material, sizing of the demonstration area to meet water-quality and storage needs, preliminary design of the containment facility, procedures for the placement of dredged material, and identification of alternative construction methods, materials, and costs. Overall feasibility of marsh expansion was demonstrated and additional investigations were recommended for the project."

Abstract: "This report summarizes the importance of common species of salt marsh plants inhabiting wetlands of the eastern U.S. coast. An evaluation of the ecological significance of the plants is based on their rates of primary production, morality, and contribution of detritus to the estuarine dependent systems. The data are important in reaching decisions relative to the deposition of dredged material in these coastal wetland systems."

In this context, the objective of this laboratory investigation was to determine the physical properties, geotechnical properties, and composition of spent oil shale retorted by the PARAHO and TOSCO processes."

This report discusses case studies of failures in waterstops that prevent water passage through the monolith joints of concrete dams and locks. "The primary objective of this study was to identify materials and techniques which have been used in repair of waterstop failures. Also, based on a review and evaluation of current practices, a secondary objective was to identify those areas where research is needed to supplement existing technology" (abstract).
