And the democratic audience responded on cue with waving plcards for their hero Jack Kennedy and stinging boos for villians Richard Milhous Nixon and Allan Shivers of Texas. Enthusiastic Democrats from over the state began to fill the auditorium at 5 p.m. complete with sack suppers. Emergency measures called out the exterminator around 6 p.m. to the Kennedy suite behind the curtain. The problem was not any pesky Republicans, but a nest of yellowjackets that had evaded auditorium housekeepers. Two rooms were set aside for the official traveling party, one with a cot and mirror...Democrats greeted state platform guests as old friends. But the first big cheer for the traveling group was for Kennedy's sister, Pat Lawford, wife of film star Peter Lawford...After his speech, which was televised, Kennedy spoke to excited Democrats who crowded over the stage. One supporter held on tight to his suit lapels impeding the progress toward a waiting escort. He left for Will Rogers airport from the north door of the auditorium, …

Six classes of the first grade students occupy all but two rooms of that school's permanent building. Kindergarten pupils, a total of 120, take the other two rooms. Some damage from the flames, smoke and water was reported at Secruity Bank and at least three other buildings in the block sustained smoke and water damage."

Forty students who were attending classes in this section of the building were injured. Two of them are in critical condition and the highschool principal, Freeman O. Pickle, was seriously hurt. The superintendent, J. N. McKeel, also was injured. McKeel youched off the blast when he struck a match to test for a gas leak. Plaster is stripped off a partition in this picture left, and the partition has been shoved out of position."

Lines began forming before 6 a.m. and when the polls opened at 3112 NW 28, it looked like a crowd assembled for a political speech. Mrs. W.F. Cowper, 3040 NW 28, got there before 7 a.m. and finally voted at 8:30 a.m. Precinct officials said the number will break all previous records. At one time there were 150 voters in line waiting to cast their ballots."
