There won't be a raid or anything of that sort, however. Workmen will simply move in and dismantle the buildings. The two establishments are located in a four-block square block are condemned by the state to make way for the erection of new capitol office buildings. Both clubs have been landmarks in the controversy over Oklahoma's liquor and anti-liquor laws. The Shangri La club, 633 NE 23, occupies a building which has been the site of various private clubs both before and after prohibition. The Chatterbox Club, 2440 N Lincoln, ran into considerable difficulty with law enforcement officers about two years ago, but has continued to operate. Mike Samara, manager of the Shangri La, and Dick Dolph, president of the Chatterbox, both say they have recieved no word as to when the state will need their property. Both clubs plan to operarte as long as possible in their present locations and then move to new sites. Neither club has selected a new location, however."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "An enterprising Oklahoma photographer saw this cloud near Pauls Valley. He thought it looked like an atomic bomb mushroom cloud. So he took the picture. The weatherman says the photographer is right. It's a cumulus variety known to the forecasting trade as a "weather factory." It's built just as the atomic mushroom by tremendous heat generated in the center. This causes a big upheval and the cloud build fast. Sometimes they will shoot up as much as 30,000 to 40,000 feet in a few minutes. When the mushroom sticks through into the freeze ceiling, that's when the rains come. it's seldom a heavy rain. More often the rain falls in light showers confined to a relatively small area."
