There won't be a raid or anything of that sort, however. Workmen will simply move in and dismantle the buildings. The two establishments are located in a four-block square block are condemned by the state to make way for the erection of new capitol office buildings. Both clubs have been landmarks in the controversy over Oklahoma's liquor and anti-liquor laws. The Shangri La club, 633 NE 23, occupies a building which has been the site of various private clubs both before and after prohibition. The Chatterbox Club, 2440 N Lincoln, ran into considerable difficulty with law enforcement officers about two years ago, but has continued to operate. Mike Samara, manager of the Shangri La, and Dick Dolph, president of the Chatterbox, both say they have recieved no word as to when the state will need their property. Both clubs plan to operarte as long as possible in their present locations and then move to new sites. Neither club has selected a new location, however."

Enthusiastic Democrats from over the state began to fill the auditorium at 5 p.m. complete with sack suppers. Emergency measures called out the exterminator around 6 p.m. to the Kennedy suite behind the curtain. The problem was not any pesky Republicans, but a nest of yellowjackets that had evaded auditorium housekeepers. But the first big cheer for the traveling group was for Kennedy's sister, Pat Lawford, wife of film star Peter Lawford...After his speech, which was televised, Kennedy spoke to excited Democrats who crowded over the stage. Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Living patterns of many Oklahoma Cityans may be undergoing a change. At least that's the hope of the apartment house business which is counting on a sweeping new trend in modern living to take hold. Apartment House investors are setting the stage with scores of luxury developments where two bathys, maid service, swimming pools and $300-per-month rent bills are not too common. The apartment building business has been booming for about two years in the northwest part of the city after what Paul Clowers, city planning director, describes as a "long drouth" in apartment construction...Average cost per unit is $9,410. Clowers estimates that units costing $9,000 or more will rent from $150 up a month. Of the more than 700 units for which permits have been issued, 286 would fall in this catagory......Clowers said the sudden boom is apartments is due to the fact that OKlahoma City went for many years with no apartments being built and is now catching up with other cities. If there weren't an avaliable market for such apartments, he said, builders would have trouble in obtaining financing."
