A letter written to Nora Whiting from Byrdie Carswell, typed by T. N. Carswell, dated November 25, 1968. Byrdie recounts her life-long appreciation and love for Nora, her older sister; of Nora's and Milton's love for her continuing after they married; their continued love after she and Tommy married; their contribution to Peg "in love and lifelong direction that has enriched her life". She advises that she and Tommy were glad that Nora sounded better the last time they talked to her. Hand written postscript expresses gladness to have Peg come & see them - even for a day.

A letter written to T. N. Carswell from "Nonie" [Nora Whiting], Clifton Forge, Virginia, dated November 17, 1966. Whiting expresses her appreciation for the nice surprise gift of shelled pecans out of Carswell's yard. She notes that she wishes he and dear little Byrd could visit her, asks what he wants for Santa to bring to him and asks about Byrdie's health issues.

Jamestown is described as "Here the First Permanent English Settlement in America was Founded, May 13, 1607 Here the First Legislative Assembly in America Convened, July 30, 1619 Here was the First Capital of the Colony of Virginia 1697-1698." The back of the postcard adds, "Administered jointly by the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (Jamestown National Historic Site) and the National Park Service, U. S. Department of the Interior." The message on the back is illegible. The postcard is addressed to "Mrs. Carroll Ward 1906 McFaddin Ave. Beaumont, Texas."
