He explains that though he would love to return home to his family, he would rather go into the army again in order to monetarily support his family. Redway asks about his father, Chauncey Redway, about Charles, and about Ellen. This could be in reference to his niece, Ellen Loretta. Also included with this item is the envelope in which the letter was sent. The envelope is addressed to Mrs. H. K. Redway in Mannsville, New York.
