To the right of the rightmost wagon, there is a sixth door that says, "Police." On the back of the postcard, the sender has left a handwritten message that says, "An account of the stupendous amount of work in my department at present. I am unable to make up my list of correspondents. For this you can permit me to decline your offer."

Three men in suits stand on the front sidewalk. A telephone pole is on the corner. Printed on the left top of the image is the title "City Hall, Marshall, Texas." A year is not legible in the postmark on the back, but handwritten at the top of the message is the date Nov. 17, 1908. A stylized "A H Co" is printed in the top left corner of the back.
