Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "What happens to a hard-working family when oil flows from the cotton fields of their farm a few days before Thanksgiving and brings surprise riches? That is the story of an Oklahoma couple, Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Long, who bought a farm south of Elk City in 1907 and have struggled for a living there ever since. The family wirked and saved all through the hard, lean years. Crop failures and cyclones and dusty winds, and finally blindness have made up their story - until now. But now the story has changed. Oil has been discovered beneath their farm. It looks as if their land will be in the heart of a potentially great new oil area around Elk City. the first well on their farm has produces both crude oil and gas distillate. It will be a bountiful Thanksgiving for the Longs this year."
