Interview with Dr. John Neal for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) podcast. In this episode, Susan interviews Dr. John Neal, Professor Emeritus of Journalism at Brookhaven College, who teaches communications-related courses for OLLI at UNT. In addition to discussing his academic background, Dr. Neal goes over some highlights of the history of photography, from the ancient camera obscura to the advent of stereoscopy and 3D movies. He also talks with Susan about his knowledge of the development of typography, including the design of certain typefaces and techniques of arranging type to make printed language more legible and appealing.

In this episode, Susan interviews Scott Kiester, a retired geologist with an M.S. in Environmental Science who is also a certified Texas Master Naturalist and Audubon Master Birder for North Central Texas. Interview with Dr. Jan Holden for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) podcast. In this episode, Susan interviews Dr. Jan Holden, who recently retired from a 31 year career as part of the UNT Counseling Program. Dr. Holden speaks with Susan about her background and how she came to conduct extensive research into the counseling implications of near-death experiences, after-death communication, and other transpersonal experiences—those that transcend the usual personal limits of space, time, and/or identity. Dr. Holden shares examples of astonishing transpersonal experiences from her research and discusses the profound life changes reported by those who have had these experiences.

Interview with Dr. Bert Hayslip for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) podcast. In this episode, Susan interviews Dr. Bert Hayslip, Regents Professor Emeritus in UNT’s Psychology Department. Dr. Hayslip explains how an experience he had in a nursing home as a child motivated him to pursue a career working with older adults. He discusses with Susan some of the influences on memory and the ways in which we understand memory in later life. Dr. Hayslip explains why he dislikes the term “senior moment” and why he is a proponent of learning new skills to improve memory as we age.
