Letter to Linnet Moore from Claude White in which he asks her not to share his letters with her friends. He wants to keep his courtship with her a private matter. He tells her that confidential friends have given him "more trouble than any one else on earth." He says that he presumes that she has "quit" Tommie by this time. Claude says that he may place him as the cashier of the Santa Fe Route Eating House. He wants to get a place on the Frisco line, near Dallas. He says that he will try to return to see her as soon as he can.

He is thankful that she has helped reconcile the differences between him and Linnet, his sweetheart. He advises her to accept the proposal from her 'medicine man' only if he pleases her. He doesn't want her to be married to someone she thought she knew. He mentions how much he loves Linnet. He asks her to come with Linnet so he can see them. He tells her his plan for them to come and visit him. He sends regards to his cousin Bettie and asks her to give his love to Linnet every time she sees her.

A letter from D. Jack Davis, Vice Provost of the University of North Texas and Co-Director of the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, and R. William McCarter, Co-Director of the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Edward V. Smith III. Chairman of University of North Texas Foundation Inc., in response to a previous letter dated May 17, 1990, which was about the Foundation's agreement to underwrite a first year match of the Getty Foundation Grant up to $16,000. requesting a grant of $15,250 since Davis and McCarter were able to obtain one grant for $750. They note that the project is going very well and they appreciate the support. The attached document is the letter mentioned in the previous letter, from Smith to Davis, dated May 17, 1990. The letter goes over the Foundation agreeing to underwrite up to $16,000 of the first year match of the Getty Foundation grant.

Letter from David S. Kennard to his mother from Camp Hope, Arkansas, saying he was getting well and had stayed with the sick in camp while the rest of the men marched to the White River. Two men from other regiments died on the prairie and the men from his company had marched in a cold rain, marching in water and mud from the top of their shoes, up to knee height. Uncle George was riding a horse back home, Uncle John is in good health, Bill Harris is getting well, Bill Hadley is well, and Captain Shannon went to the White River where he got sick and remains for now. Colonel A. Nelson was promoted to brigadier general and took sick and died.

Dinkie mentions that they are all well and Florence, Mary and Minnie spent the night there. Tobe it taking Florence to her mothers. Willie is working in town early in the morning. She mentions the weather and the vegetables in her garden. Birdie talks about school, Minnie Dodd's tooth, and Tobe and Florence possibly going back to Indian territory. Mary is staying with them and doesn't want to go to Indian territory. Dinkie mentions that Sallie and Mattie visited,and Charlie and Fannie are going to rent Mr. Campbell's place. She talks about milking, making butter, and selling eggs. She received some apples and canned some, and made some jelly. She tells Linnet all the fun Bird, Mary and Minnie are having. If Linnet was there then all of the grandchildren would be together.
