In regards to a project which the NTIEVA initiated, that sought out high quality reproductions of work of at in five museums in the DFW area and that one of Bigger's painting, "Starry Clown" was selected for the portfolio. NTIEVA, with the Marcus Grant, produced 500 portfolios and each was placed at no cost in the elementary and secondary schools in the consortium of the Institute. McCarter and Davis write that the portfolio has been successful with teachers and students, that they received requests for additional portfolios, and are reaching out to Biggers to request the use of the image in commercial production of future portfolios.

On October 17, Reid will lead an art discussion with Art Sinks to motivation teachers and students to use art to write to the TAAS objectives. Reid writes that she will use "Chimney" to open her discussions here forward because how McCarter inspired her, she thanks him and the involvement NTIEVA has made on her.

Pages two and three of a memo to the Improving Visual Arts Education Consultants, Cincinnati IVAE Seminar Participants, Cranbrook IVAE Seminar Participants. The memo details the Center's appreciation of the interest the consultants have in discipline-based art education and will continue to keep IVAE projects on the mailing list to continue to inform them of future Center plans as the Center has spent many years the best means to spread DBAE across the United States.

In regards to good news that the Amon Carter Foundation has granted NTIEVA $150,000 for the next three years of their program. McCarter and Davis are thrilled as this amount will go a long way towards meeting their five year matching requirement for the Getty grant. It also insure the ongoing work of the institute. Included in the letter are details about how the Getty grant will release their pay increments during the years. McCarter and Davis write that they need some materials from Roberts, discussing some points they've enclosed in the letter, in order to secure the grant with the Getty Center.

Although it has been raining the springs and wells are going dry. Abe had a well drilled close to the house, but could not keep it close to the house because of gas. A new well was between the barn and the spring, but again there was gas in it. Florence was watching a little girl. Mat Nay or Mat Frankland died. She mentions that owls have been taking her turkeys. Dinky sold her other cow. She comments on Linnet being so helpful and Birdie as well. She asks that they write soon. Alice writes about the subjects she is learning in school and how she wishes Linnet was there to play with her and Birdie. She mentions that her mother is going to town and what happened to Mary Dodd in the orchard.

She was happy to hear they had made it home safely. She says everyone is doing well except Birdie who has a cold. Birdie has kept her busy since Sissie started school. She wishes Sis was there to help her eat beans. Old Major is about to die and Henry has not planted wheat. He wants to pasture it. Her cows make plenty of milk for butter. She is going to finish a dress for Sissie and Sallie Elliot has a baby boy. Mrs. Ellis sent her some peaches and she made a pie. She hasn't visited her mother because she doesn't have a ride. She hasn't had rain since Sis left. Uncle Sam died. Willie want to tell Uncle Charlie about his studies. She finished the quilt and Henry is helping Tobe to plow. She ask that they write soon.
