Slagel, Captain Infantry Commanding Company D 10th Battalion Texas Defense Guard, Colorado City, Texas, dated October 3, 1941. Slagel declines the invitation to attend the Armistice Day Review due to Colorado City meeting Abilene in a football game the same day.

A letter written to Mr. Ralph Lee, Colorado City, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated October 30, 1941. Carswell confirms that Lt. Col. William O. Perry of the 89th Brigade will speak on Friday, November 7, offers his congratulations to Lee and discloses the details of the event.

This design "relates to that class of fire escapes designed to save life from burning houses or ships; and its object is to provide means whereby a boat or car may be lowered from the side of a vessel, or a car may be raised or lowered to and from the windows of a house" (lines 8-13).
