He writes that he is impressed by the suggestion, made by Carswell, that Baptist schools should include a required course of study along that line, and, if Carswell thinks it advisable, he will incorporate the suggestion into his report for the state convention.

A letter written to Rev. J. D. Thorn, First Baptist Church, Belton, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, 24th District United Texas Drys, dated October 14, 1942. Carswell replies to a letter in which Thorn inquires if Carswell thinks it advisable that he incorporate the suggestion made by Carswell, that Baptist schools require a course of study on liquor, into his report for the state convention. Carswell answers that if Thorn includes a recommendation in his report "it would be very helpful".

Letter from E. H. Wells to Junia Roberts Osterhout. He wrote in response to a letter Junia sent and thanked her profusely for her words. Wells went on to detail a church service he had attended with Junia and other services he had been to. He was a former professor of Junia's and spoke of news of Baylor, including the number of female students that enrolled for the academic year.

Letter from Paul Osterhout to his grandmother. He wrote to thank his grandmother for a watch she sent him and informer her of the school he and his siblings were currently receiving. He mentioned a murder that happened nearby, although he did not know all the details.

Letter from Junia Roberts Osterhout to her husband, John Patterson Osterhout. She wished her husband's health would improve and updated him on how many bushels of corn and cotton they had. She wrote that she had received money and let him know what she planned to use it for.

Letter from Paul Osterhout to his father, John Patterson Osterhout. He informed his father that a friend of the family was sick and his mother was aiding in the friend's recovery. Paul let his father know he had been taking care of their land and that his mother was planning to purchase frost-oak [sic] wood.

Letter from John Patterson Osterhout to his wife, Junia Roberts Osterhout. John wrote his wife while she was away visiting family. He told her that their son, Paul, might be making progress in the telegraph business and that a local priest was conducting a protracted meeting. The county fair was about to begin, although John did not think they would take much part in it. He ended the letter by stating that he was not sure when Junia planned on returning.

John continued his letter with local news, including the county fair, various persons who were on trial, and a Methodist protracted meeting at a local church.

John let her know of local baptisms and poultry sales he had made at the recent fair. He and their daughter, Gertrude, were looking forward to Junia's return home. He hopes that his son, Paul, will return to live with them if the telegraph company relocates him to an office in town. John then told Junia that when she was ready to make the return home, she should consider whether or not to purchase a second class ticket for the train.

Paul was sent for by their father so that Paul could work with him in the post office. He mentioned visits he had made around town and told her he would forward a letter to her.

He wrote that their father was canvassing the neighborhood since he was running for a public office and let his sister know that the family would like for her to visit. Paul requested the Gertrude bring a canary back home and offered to go the skating rink of she wanted to learn to skate. A circus came into town and the family went to see the shows. Included is an envelope addressed to "Miss Junia Osterhout."
