From introduction: This report presents an estimating technique that could be employed, with certain adaptations, almost anywhere that high ground-water levels in sedimentary deposits may present construction planning problems such as design and safe use of septic tank drain fields, and design of foundations, basements, and roadways.

From purpose and scope: The purpose of this report is (1) to describe the flow system within the Kootenai Formation, which is the principal aquifer, and (2) to describe the interaction between the Kootenai and overlying and underlying Mesozoic aquifers.

From Purpose and Scope: The objectives of this study are: (1) to define, both qualitatively and quantitatively, the clogging processes associated with injection, and (2) to determine the three-dimensional migration paths of injection water and native ground water.

From purpose and scope: Purposes of this report are: (1) To define the areal distribution and occurrence of all thermal springs in the Boise River basin, (2) to evaluate their chemical and isotopic compositions, and (3) to quantify the amount of heat and water presently discharging from the springs.

From introduction: This report presents some borehole data-collection methods that can be used during the drilling of ROMP or other wells where data collection is a prime objective. Hydraulic, water-quality, and geophysical data-collection methods applicable to the hydrogeology of west-central Florida are emphasized.

From purpose and scope: Concern by officials of both Everglades National Park and Dade County about the effects of development of land in the East Everglades for various uses created the need for additional information on the hydrology of this wetland. The hydrology of wetlands is also a major thrust of the U.S. Geological Survey. Because of this mutual interest, the U.S. Geological Survey and Dade County have cooperated in a study of one element of wetland hydrology--the effects that certain land uses have on the surface-water quality (Metropolitan Dade County Planning Department, 1978, p. 49-52).

Purpose and scope: The purpose of this report is to describe and make preliminary interpretations of: (1) Limnological characteristics of Williams Lake, based on physical, chemical, and biological data collected in 6 days in 6 different months in 1979; (2) chemical quality of ground water near the lake, based on samples collected during the summer of 1979; and (3) mineralogy of the lake sediment cores obtained in February 1978. The period of study extended from March, when the lake was covered by ice, through the period of open water, to December, when it was again covered by ice.

From abstract: This report critically reviews historical precipitation data collected by the U.S. Geological Survey and concludes that the while the data "may reflect local atmospheric quality conditions they likely do not define baseline conditions from a regional perspective." From abstract: "This study was made to describe the distribution of inorganic nitrogen and other chemical constituents and nitrogen-using bacteria in the unsaturated zone, to relate nitrogen occurrences, in a general way, to present and historical land use, and to attempt to predict nitrogen concentrations in ground water after recharge" within the Highland-East Highlands area of San Bernardino County, California.
