Concurrent with the drilling, geologic field work was done to determine the distribution, thickness, and structural setting of the shale." From abstract: "A terminology is suggested for stratified and cross-stratified rock units that will aid the field geologist in describing these structures... A classification of cross-stratification based primarily on the character of the lower bounding surface of a set of cross-strata is suggested."
