Photocopy of a letter from Nancy Reynolds, Project Coordinator of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Dr. William Otton, Art Museum of South Texas. In regards to the seminar NTIEVA presented at the museum in August and how they will be meeting with Linda Eshom and Ola Underhill to discuss continuous collaboration. Reynolds writes that they have reserved the days of June 28 - July 1 and July 5 - 8, 1994 for Corpus Christi to discuss future seminars and the ways to best serve the teachers. Enclosed with the letter is an attached NTIEVA newsletter, which includes an article about the Corpus seminars.

Photocopy of a letter from Bill McCarter, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts, to Leilani Lattin Duke, director of the Getty Center. McCarter writes that he has reviewed the draft of the National Arts Standards, paying close attention to the implication for aesthetics in art. Describing his recent trip to Canada, McCarter mentions that many presentations encountered the same problems in identifying common traits found in art. McCarter continues to say he does not see the dilemma in using the word aesthetic as it means various things to different people.

Israeli-Palestinian Agreement (open access)

Israeli-Palestinian Agreement

On August 27, 1993, Israel and the Palestinians announced that Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres and Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) official Mahmoud Abbas (also known as Abu Mazen) had initialed a landmark agreement on August 19 in Oslo, Norway on a Declaration of Principles on interim self-government for the West Bank and Gaza Strip. On September 9, PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin exchanged letters unprecedented mutual recognition. On September 10, President Clinton welcomed the agreement, thanked Congress for its support, and announced that the United States would resume its dialog with the PLO. The Declaration was signed at the White House on September 13. This report provides summaries of the Declaration and the letters.
