This design consists in "the combination of a caster having an elongated stem provided with upper and lower annular supporting-shoulders, a poison-receptacle having a central opening in its bottom to receive the stem and provided with a central vertical tube having a top provided with an opening receiving the stem, said receptacle being supported by the lower shoulder, and a concavo-convex shield supported by the upper shoulder and arranged over the mouth of the receptacle and provided with a filling-orifice and having a pivoted cover" (lines 82-93).

Patent for an improved way of constructing piers, jetties, breakwaters, and similar structures. It consists "of a staff with tenoned end, a portion of which is cut out of its upper surface with a downward bevel to its lower end, a beveled slide adapted to fit and slide upon the beveled cut in the staff, said slide being provided with a slight shoulder upon its upper side and a hole through the same for a screw or pin, a tube longitudinally slotted inclosing said staff and slide" (lines 38-47).
