Development of Novel Approaches to Earth-abundant Methane Catalysis

Data management plan for the grant "Development of Novel Approaches to Earth-abundant Methane Catalysis." Research on catalytic cycles for C–H activation and functionalization of light alkanes based on the CMD (concerted metalation deprotonation) mechanism will be modeled for Earth-abundant metal dicarboxylates and related complexes. The impact of inner and outer coordination sphere effects upon catalytic cycles for light alkane functionalization will be assessed using computational chemistry techniques. The aforementioned studies will be leveraged to identify promising, synthetically feasible lead catalysts for experimental collaborators.

FY2021 DARPA YFA: Next generation of wireless power transfer network of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) using electromechanical beamforming

Data management plan for the grant "FY2021 DARPA YFA: Next generation of wireless power transfer network of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) using electromechanical beamforming." Research aiming to develop the next generation of wireless power transfer (WPT) network that is scalable, safe, and efficient and can be deployed in a UAS by incorporating waveform engineering, electromechanical beamforming, integrated phased-array antenna, and transmitter (TX)/receiver (RX) co-design. This project aims to reveal the fundamental understanding of the energy sphere formation in a 3D space using UAVs as a case study. Although interests in radiative (far-field) WPT using beamforming has been growing rapidly because of its capability to energize a large number of autonomous devices, most of these works are still in the theoretical phase without any practical implementation. This project aims to implement a robust beamforming network using a bottom-up approach (from the antenna to the inter-connected network) that is highly important for addressing the challenges associated with a dynamically changing environment.

Regulators of von Willebrand Factor Levels (open access)

Regulators of von Willebrand Factor Levels

Data management plan for the grant "Regulators of von Willebrand Factor Levels." Von Willebrand Disease is the most prevalent bleeding disease. In one of the types called type 1 von Willebrand Disease, the disease-causing genes are not known. Using zebrafish as a model, this project proposes to identify genes that cause the disease by crippling the genes by knockdown methods, and such identification may lead to not only the identification of mutations in the corresponding human genes but also to a better diagnosis.

Patterns and Drivers of Intra-Urban Heat and Pollution Island Interactions (open access)

Patterns and Drivers of Intra-Urban Heat and Pollution Island Interactions

Data management plan for the grant, "Patterns and Drivers of Intra-Urban Heat and Pollution Island Interactions." Research on the urban heat island (UHI) and urban pollution island (UPI) effects at the neighborhood scale by integrating sensor networks, earth observations, and geospatial analysis. The spatial patterns and intra-annual variability of UHI-UPI interactions and model the urban form drivers controlling UHI-UPI interaction variability will also be examined. These data will be analyzed to determine when and where urban heat islands and urban pollution islands occur, and the risks that their interaction poses to urban residents. These results will support informed decision-making for urban heat and air pollution mitigation.

Metal Oxynitrides: Tuning Metal-N and Metal-O Interactions for Improved Electrocatalytic Properties at the Liquid/Solid Interface

Data management plan for the grant "Metal Oxynitrides: Tuning Metal-N and Metal-O Interactions for Improved Electrocatalytic Properties at the Liquid/Solid Interface." Research investigating the fundamental chemical interactions relevant to the conversion of dinitrogen to ammonia via more energy-efficient routes. The studies will help in understanding the chemical and material factors that are most important for optimizing new materials for ammonia production from dinitrogen, and applications to other important industrial reactions.
