[Smith Family Films, No. 15 - Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Dedication Ceremony]

This home documents the daily lives and activities of a family. The film begins with family members on vacation feeding chipmunks, hiking, and gathering wood. The film concludes with the dedication ceremony of the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on September 22, 1973 (02:19-04:24). Footage of the ceremony begins with a speech by former Dallas Mayor Erik Jonsson (02:19-02:25), followed by former Governor of Texas John Connally (02:26) and footage of guests on the stage. It appears that Congressman Jim Wright is seated to Connally's right (02:32). Connally introduces the current Governor of Texas, Dolph Briscoe, Jr. (02:37), who speaks to the crowd. Governor Briscoe's speech is followed by footage of an unidentified man speaking (02:44) as well as the large crowds, television news crews, and North Texas State University marching band. Other unidentified men speak (03:29) followed by more footage of the crowds and footage of the airport shot from a moving car. The film ends with members of the NTSU marching band posing for the camera (04:03-04:24). Members of the Smith family, Barney Smith and cousin Leslie Pruitt, were in the North Texas State University Band and performed as part of the ceremony.
