Caption: "Earl Francis Haddix, of Maysville, walked away apparently unhurt after the truck he was driving ended up this way Monday afternoon. Trooper Jim Sigler said Haddix was traveling north on I-35, four miles south of Norman when he apparently dozed off and veered to the right. The truck demolished 24 feet of steel guard rail and 12 feet of concrete bridge railing before becoming airborne for about 50 feet. The truck flipped one and a half times."

Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "One teacher was injured, 14 students were arrested and a school bus was diverted from its destination this morning as disturbances broke out at two fedrally integrated high schools in southern Oklahoma City. At mid-afternoon, Supt. Bill Lillaird said that the schools will be open Friday and that buses will bring students to the schools. He said additional uniformed school security men will be assigned to Capitol Hill and Southeast, along with city police. Dr. Lillard said additional security will be provived at other schools in the system as well. The trouble started at Southeast High School, 5401 Shields, then spread to Capitol Hill High School, 510 SW 36, when a bus supposedly taking student home from Southeast was diverted to Capitol Hill High......Disturbances at Southeast, site of unruliness Wednesday, broke out this morning as Principal Dee King was talking with a group of 25 black and white student leaders to prevent any reoccurence of trouble."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "The funeral procession stretched more than a mile as it crept over the steaming hills north ro Little Cemetery for the burial of the Howard Siler family Tuesday. Heading the procession were two dozen cars of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the drivers license examiners of the Department of Public Safety...It was an unusual procession, as the funeral in First Baptist Church was unusual, and as the sudden, violent deaths of Siler, 32; his wife, Judy Ann, 28, and their son, Christopher Todd, 6, had been unusual. "we realize what a tragic thing happened, what a tragic thing took place, perpetrated within our state," Rev. Bill Cannon told a silent crowd of 300 that almost filled the church..."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Five Oklahoma City school patrons, backed up by more than 200 anti-busing advocates in the audience, called upon the city's Board of Education Thursday to defy federal court school desegragation orders. The board's refusal to consider such action was met by catcalls and angry cries from a crowd that overflowed the auditrium of the school administration building...At the conclusion of the speeches, Mrs. Yvonne York, District 3 board member, made a motion, as she has done twice before, that the board refuse to implement the Finger Plan. And, has happened previously, the motion died for lack of a second. "You're yellow!" a woman in the audience cried. "What are you afriad of?" another shouted. Board President Foster Estes attempted to explained why attempted to explain why the board, though it vigorously opposes the Fimger Plan and busing achieve racial desegregation, would obey the court order. But shouts from the audience prompted him to cut off his remarks and adjourn the meeting. Among the patrons who spoke to the board was John Smith, Ward 5 city councilman who last November engineered a city-wide campaign to defeat"
