Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "The State Fair of Oklahoma's B-47 crash landed from an altitude of 20 feet Saturday when a boom crane holding the tail section malfunctioned. No one was hurt, although workmen had hovered closely around and under the plane minutes earlier. The B-47, the first of three planes scheduled to be placed on the fairgrounds, was suspended from two cranes, a large one that held up most of the weight and a small one that held up the tail. A weld broke on the small crane causing the boom to bend and sending the tail crashing to the ground. A workman had stepped away seconds before the accident. Officials said damage to the tail, at right, could be repaired. Finally, after some slow and precise maneuvering, workmen got the plane secured to the post that will hold the plane above the ground."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Firemen faced double daqngeous odds in the fire which destroyed a large portion of Mayfair Shopping Center Sunday afternoon. The odds took their toll. At least 42 firemen were injured by the blaze, many by fumes from burning ammonium nitrate fertilizer stored in the gutted TG&Y store in the center. The fumes burned eyes and facesw as firemen, hampered because the flames remained primarily deep within the large building, attempted to direct water inside. Other chimicals also apparently contributed to the uncanny burn, which firemen said could not be felt first, then gradually grew worse even after a firefighter left the area..."You didn't have an idea that you were getting burned like that, until later," said fire Capt. Chester Williams......Dist. Chief Bill Randel suffered eye injurues when an aerosol spray can exploded in his face, and another fireman reportedly was cut"
