Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Hot Weather Craw; of asphalt paving under heavy city traffic is responsible for wavy pattern of pedestrian lane lines, above, at NW 23 and Classed, says James H. Robinson, city traffic control director. In making fast starts, modern autos with heavy horsepower and automatic transmissions literally shove the pavement aside. The problem becomes worse under summer heat, and traffic crews find it virtually impossible to keep the lane lines straight at some locations, the traffic offical said."

Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "The tedious work of building a super highway is what all the hustle and bustle is about along a 3-mile stretch from Western to Portland near W Reno. Construction of the Central Expressway - another leg of I. H. 40 - ranges from a descernable over pass and the beginnings of a road on the east end to nothing but a semblance of giant ant hills further west. Surfacing is being appliad to the expressway's bridge over Virginia. Crossbeams are going up at Pennsylvania. And only concrete pillars reach for the sky at W. Reno, near Agnew. A half-mile west of May, overpasses are just rising from the barren ground. Dirt is being moved from one spot to another to form the base for a massive interchange where the expressway meets the West Bypass."
