Talmadge acknowledges his receipt of and expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell noting he is glad to have benefit of "the thinking of my friends in other states on matters of mutual concern". Talmadge advises that when the Kennedy-Ervin labor bill went before the Senate that he voted for the McClellan Bill of Rights and an amendment regarding outlawing secondary boycotts which was defeated. He advises of his agreement with Carswell that the House bill was stronger than the Senate "measure".

Carswell expresses his hope that McClellan gets the legislation passed intact such as the Landrum-Griffin Labor bill Burleson got passed in the House, not a compromise bill like the Kennedy-Erwin bill after rights were stricken there-from through the efforts of Senators Johnson and Yarborough of Texas.

The form gives notice of the granting of the petition for the transfer of subject from Taylor County to El Paso County, and naming the subject's prospective employer as Davis, Foster and Thorps, Architects, and the parole officer as P. W. Williams.

A letter written to Martin Dies, Lufkin, Texas, from Neville G. Penrose, Fort Worth 2, Texas, dated August 22, 1956. Penrose advises that he read the morning paper's announcment of Die's intention to run for the United States Senate when Price Daniel is elected Governor. He reminds Dies that he has just been elected to the House of Representatives for another two years and urges him to serve his term and throw all of his support to Morrow.

A letter addressed to the members of the Taylor County Democratic Executive Committee, from C. G. Whitten, Chairman, Taylor County Democratic Executive Committee, Abilene, Texas, dated August 17, 1956. A reminder that the second primary election will be held on August 25, 1956 advising of location and date to obtain election kits and supplies. Whitten calls a committee meeting for the opening and canvassing of the returns and advises of their poor financial situation and its effects on the paid help for the elections.

He offers congratulations to Prather and Ed Drake for their "great victories in May".

Carswell advises of the one purpose he has in writing this letter which is to express the hope that the National Committeeman selected will be one of "our color" noting that there is already some deflection in their ranks, and should one not of their number be named National Committeeman, he fears the hurt will be severe.

A letter addressed to Hon. Clyde Suddath, County Attorney, Henrietta, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, dated August 3, 1955. Carswell references the request made by Suddath in his letter of July 29 and advises regarding a letter written by Subject 95040 OP. He advises Suddath that the Subject is ready to go to Henrietta of his own accord to expedite the clearing of the matter. Carswell expresses his appreciation for Suddath for his willingness in a matter so vital to this man and advises that if he finds himself in error he will work just as eagerly to see Subject held for action.

A letter addressed to Mr. Glenn R. Klopfenstein, Chief, Bureau of Probation and Parole, Columbus 15, Ohio, from Jack Ross, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact (by Maizie Toungate, Supervisor, Parole Division), Board of Pardons and Paroles, Texas dated August 1, 1955. Toungate references a letter from Klopfenstein in which a report on Subject OP 95040 was requested. She advises that Subject has reported each month, the reports have been forwarded to their office and that the conduct and attitude of Subject is satisfactory.

A letter written to Mr. R. N. McMichael, Placement Supervisor, Ohio Penitentiary, from Richard H. Brooks, M. D., Medical Director, James Hospital, dated August 26, 1954. Brooks advises McMichael that the medical records of Inmate No. 95040 have been reviewed and has retained the "No Occupational Restrictions" classification given shortly after arrival at the penitentiary.

A postcard addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Tex and postmarked, FT. W & El Paso ED R.P.O.TR 7, Aug 25, 1954. The reverse side includes a form letter addressed to Tommy [T. N. Carswell] from Jet Peters dated August 25, 1954. Campaign card printed for Paul Brashear for State Representative with personal handwritten note advising how as a Shivers Democrat Peters helped carry Cisco for Ike saving their Tide Lands to clean up the mess in Washington, and he congratulates Carswell saying that his article in yesterday's Star Telegram "hit the spot". Peters also asks about Abilene: "How's the West Texas Chamber of Commerce? I hear its sick financially—Do get a big kick out of your Abilene's growth. I first knew the town in 1900."
