A letter written to Bertram D. Janes, District Attorney, Plumas County, Quincy, California, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, dated August 11, 1953. Carswell advises Janes that he has enclosed a Notice of Intention of Subject A-9803 to apply for Pardon and Restoration and advises of progress made by Subject for the two years while under his supervision explaining that he urges his worthy parolees to regain their citizenship.

A letter addressed to Georgia Bay Line, Chicago, Illinois from T. N. Carswell, dated August 27, 1953. Carswell requests "a friendly chore" for a fruit basket and candy to be placed in the cruise cabin for Mr. J. B. Dalton.

A letter written to California Governor Earl Warren, Sacramento 14, California, from T. N. Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County (Texas) Parole Board dated August 7, 1953. Carswell advises Warren of a long delay in action on the recommendation for Executive Clemency for Subject Fol. 17095. He offers to provide any information that may be lacking regarding the records of Subject advising that his interest in Subject arises solely from the relationship of Parolee and Parole Officer. Carswell closes with the suggestion that Warren might have met Governor Shivers at the Seattle Governor's Conference advising that "to get the full measure of the man, you have but to recall what happened in Texas last year―it largely was his wise and determined leadership that brought us victory".

A letter written to Mr. Walter A. Gordon, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact, Sacramento 14, California, from Howard Carney, Administrator (by Betty Christian, Chief, Parole Division), Department of State, Texas, dated August 11, 1953. Christian advises Gordon regarding a monthly report and the recommedation for Final Discharge for Subject 17095. Typewritten at the bottom of the page is correspondence from B Christian [Betty Christian] to Mr. Carswell expressing her appreciation for his letter of recommendation for the above Subject and for his assistance.

Christian acknowleges receipt of the letter from Gordon regarding Subject 9803 - A, and advises Gordon of the Subject being granted a Certificate of Discharge and that the Subject's file will be closed. Typewritten at the bottom of the page is correspondence from B C [Betty Christian] to Mr. Carswell requesting he close his files on the case and the Certificate of Discharge be given to Subject.
