From introduction: The purpose of this report is to describe the general quality and quantity of water in the principal water-supply aquifers in Minnesota.

A report about uranium bearing multiple oxide minerals first recognized in the jig-bed concentrate of the Tyee Mining Company's gold dredge on the Red River. The gravels of the placer deposits were derived from the Idaho batholith and a roof pendant of Precambrian rocks in the batholith.

From introduction: This report details the study to determine whether it might be worthwhile to attempt to recover uranium-bearing minerals that were previously dredged in a gold exploration in 1951 and discarded.

This report uses data collected from seventeen lakes and ponds in Eagan, Minnesota from 1972 through 1978 to determine the effects of urbanization on water quality. It contains a map, graphs, and tables.

Samples of water, fish, and benthic macroinvertebrates collected at 10 sampling stations over a 10-month period indicate that Sacony Creek and its major tributaries possess water of good to excellent quality. No excessive quantities of dissolved nutrients, oxidizable matter, or fecal coliform bacteria were detected. Fish inhabitants include a sizable wild trout population in the upper Sacony basin and a diverse warm-water population, dominated by white suckers (Catostomus commersoni), in the lower basin. A population of 590 trout or 119 pounds per acre (133 kilograms per square hectometer) was estimated for good habitat in the upper basin. A maximum standing crop of 558 pounds per acre (626 kilograms per square hectometer) was measured at' one of the more productive reaches. Benthic macroinvertebrate collections tended to support the water chemistry and fish population studies. Diversity (d) and Redundancy (r) ranged from 2.44 to 3.46 and 0.14 to 0.38, respectively. Such diversity and redundancy values indicate good quality water at all stations.

Abstract: A number of radioactivity anomalies and secondary uranium minerals have been found in the Rimini area near the northwestern margin of the Boulder batholith. Most of the anomalies are associated with chalcedonic vein zones that consist of one or more veins of cryptocrystalline and fine-grained quartz in silicified quartz monzonite and alaskite. Seventeen of the anomalies were found along veins that contain base and precious metals; nine were along veins in the vicinity of the village of Rimini from which there has been production of lead, silver, zinc, and gold.

From abstract: The uranium deposits in the Carlile quadrangle, southwestern Crook County, Wyo., are in relatively flat-lying sandstone beds in the lower part of the Inyan Kara group of Early Cretaceous age. The Carlile mine has the largest deposit in the quadrangle; the ore minerals are carnotite and tyuyamunite associated with carbonaceous material in a sandstone lens.

Abstract: "Thickness, grade, and depth data were obtained by analyzing gamma-ray logs and core samples from 56 diamond drill holes penetrating uranium deposits in the Colorado Plateau. The data from the two methods were compared to determine variations found in gamma-ray log interpretation and chemical and radiometric analyses of the drill core. Correlations within each parameter varied among the drilling areas analyzed. Gamma-ray interpretations of grade compared to chemical analyses were within the range of -10 to +25 percent. Most depth measurements determined by gamma-ray log interpretation compared to drill core measurement were within 0.5 percent. Results of the study indicate a need for better thickness definition in both gamma-ray logging and core scanning equipment."

Discussing the stratigraphy of middle tertiary rocks in parts of West-Central Florida

From introduction: An autunite deposit in the SW 1/4 sec. 25, T. 10 N., R. 13 W. San Bernardino meridian, was visited by F. M. Chace on May 6 and 15, 1950. The deposit is about 100 yards west of a north-south country road and is at an altitude of approximately 2,775 feet. The autunite-bearing tuffaceous sandstone strikes N. 35-40 W. and dips 20 -25 SW. It has been traced about 40 feet along the strike at the base of the outcrop and for about 20 feet up the dip. Insufficient work was done to give an accurate idea of the size of the deposit or to determine if other autunite-bearing beds are present.
