The Relationship Between Environmental Barriers and Modes of Technology Transfer: A Study of United States Companies with Operations in Mexico
This study is an empirical evaluation of the relationship between perceptions of the elements of the remote environment of business and the mode of transfer utilized by 90 United States companies transferring technology to Mexico. Characteristics of the technology, the company, and the industry were found, from a thorough search of the literature, to be the key aspects of technology transfer. The primary hypothesis predicted that a significant relationship would exist between perceptions of barriers and choice of transfer mode.

Music Theory in Mexico from 1776 To 1866: A Study of Four Treatises by Native Authors
This investigation traces the history and development of music theory in Mexico from the date of the first Mexican treatise available (1776) to the early second half of the nineteenth century (1866). This period of ninety years represents an era of special importance in the development of music theory in Mexico. It was during this time that the old modal system was finally abandoned in favor of the new tonal system and that Mexican authors began to pen music treatises which could be favorably compared with the imported European treatises which were the only authoritative source of instruction for serious musicians in Mexico.

A Guide for the Performance of Trumpet Mariachi Music in Schools
The purpose of this study is to provide a guide for the instruction of a trumpet mariachi performance ensemble in a music curriculum. The fulfillment of this purpose is dependent upon the data supplied in answer to the sub problems: (1) What socio-cultural information provides authentic trumpet mariachi music; (2) What trumpet mariachi literature illustrates the repertoire and style; (3) What instructional source materials may be developed such that Mexican American and non-Mexican American instructors build a competency in repertoire and style; (4) How could this guide be evaluated in its functional design for a music curriculum? The data collected for use in this study has been presented in three major categories: (1) the history and milieu in which the trumpet, mariachi crystalized; (2) the repertoire--its history and function in Mexican society and the transcriptions of types demonstrating the musical structure; and (3) the technical information relative to the instruction of the particular mariachi instruments. An evaluative instrument has been supplied in an attempt to establish the validity of the information and examples provided in this practicum. U.S.-Mexican Security Cooperation: The Mérida Initiative and Beyond
Increasing violence perpetrated by drug trafficking organizations and other criminal groups is threatening citizen security and governance in Mexico. Escalating violence has increased U.S. concerns about stability in Mexico, a key political and economic ally, and about the possibility of violence spilling over into the United States. In recent years, U.S.-Mexican security cooperation has increased significantly, largely as a result of the development and implementation of the Mérida Initiative, a counterdrug and anticrime assistance package for Mexico and Central America that was first proposed in October 2007. This report looks at the funding and Congressional oversight for this Initiative.

U.S. Troop in Mexico. Punitive Expedition Troops somewhere in Mexico. Walter H. Horne does not provide us with any specific information about the exact location of these Troops; or to which Unit these Troops are a part of. However since they are in Mexico, these Troops are undoubtedly part of General Pershing's Punitive Expedition in Mexico ca. 1916 - 1917. The unknown group of men are part of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Most of the men look tired and dirty but a few men have managed to smile for the camera. There are several horses in the background as well as at least 3 supply wagons. Back of the postcard in parenthesis: "5th over the river", according to research, in 1916, the 5th Calvary Regiment was dispatched to the Texas - Mexico border to serve as part of the Pancho Villa Expedition. The "river" in this case is the Rio Grande River. This postcard is addressed to: Miss Elvira Weakland, 1928 - 13 Ave., Altoona, PA. The soldiers sit in tall grass. Zoom in on this image to see close ups of some of the men eating in this photographic event. See also image titled: [U.S. Troops in Mexico] WH-PC-196-009 - same photograph series. Walter H. Horne, does not leave us with any information about where he or these troops were when this image was captured. We also do not have the name for this army unit. However since this image was captured in Mexico, ca. 1916, the troops were part of Pershing's Punitive Expedition into Mexico.
