The problem is limited to an analysis of the first one hundred divorce suits involving children filed in Dallas County, Texas, during the months of May and June, 1948. The general factors considered are: (a) family background; (b) age; (c) educational background; (d) economic status; (e) previous marital relations; and (f) the number of children.

The immediate purpose of this thesis is to show incomes and current living costs of teachers by geographical areas and to draw justified conclusions based upon statistical data regarding necessary and desirable teachers' salaries. Since the survey made by the Bureau of Business Research, University of Texas, included such widely separated cities as Corpus Christi, Austin, Tyler, El Paso, Lubbock, and Abilene, the different sections of the state are well represented.

"The problem of this thesis is to determine through survey and comparative study the effect of the activity program of Denton's El Centro, the youth center, on the youth of the City of Denton...methods of operation and internal organization of youth centers, the purpose of the centers and the results of some of the activities are outlined. Members of the Denton youth center were interviewed; the information gained from the interviews was recorded on prepared questionnaires. Various types of activities at Denton's youth center are discussed. The study also attempts to reveal by means of tables those activities which are more important to the male youth of Denton. The general purpose of this study is to make a survey of children's library work in the United States with special attention to recent trends and developments in this field as revealed in current practice. The specific purpose is to make an evaluation of the services rendered by the children's division of the Dallas Public Library and to determine how this department measures up to the standards set up by the American Library Association and by individual authorities.

The primary purpose of the tests was to determine what influence, if any, the environmental factors played in the individual learning process, but attention was given to other phases of the learning process as well.

The problem of this study is the development of criteria for the evaluation of some of the guidance practices that are found in the student council and the home room organizations of a junior high school. The major consideration has been given to the development of the evaluative criteria, and not to the evaluation of the practices. The problem may be considered as three-fold in its scope. A solution has been attempted through the following steps: First, it will establish a method of evaluating the practices of the organizations mentioned. Second, it will analyze some of the common practices of these organizations through an application of the evaluative device to the practices. Third, it will record the findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

The purpose of this study has been to trace the development of the program of Vocational Rehabilitation for disabled individuals administered by the State Board for Vocational Education from 1929-1949. From the first day when the child enters school it should be the teacher's aim to help him "achieve maximum development and at the same time to live harmoniously with others." It is the purpose of this study to provide for the realization of this aim through discovering: 1. In what ways the normal first grade child is lacking in social cooperation and background contributing to this lack; 2. How this lack of social cooperation affects the child's behavior in the daily activities in which he engages at school and suggestions in literature for eliminating social maladjustments; and 3. How the elimination of social maladjustments will help the child to become a happier, better adjusted participant in all of the daily activities in which he engages.

The problem under consideration is to determine the effect of certain prevailing environmental conditions of a distracting nature upon the process of study in the first grade. The conditions selected, those which are common to the schoolroom or home environment, were chewing gum, physical education classes, room confusion, rhythm band, singing, and recorded music. This study attempted to determine to what degree, if any, each of these distracting environmental conditions affect the process of study in the first grade.
