Patent for a new and improved sewing-machine motor. This design has for its object "the production of a motor capable of rapid and convenient adjustment to permit operation by hand or foot . . . Heretofore motors have been provided for [this purpose] but the difficulty experienced in these machines is that during the operation of the machine by hand the treadle forms no substantial support for the feet, the pitman simply being disconnected from the driving-wheel and thrown back. . . . [T]he present invention . . . will obviate the above objection" (lines 10-22).

Patent for a new and improved gate. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the gate composed of the latch-upright, hinge-upright, longitudinal wires and cross-braces, of the spring-depressed latch, pivoted to the brace just in front of the crossing part of the opposite brace, the double-armed lever pivoted through its center to the inner surface of the top of the latch-upright, and the cords connecting said arms to a proper point of the latch" (lines 82-90).

Patent for improvements in account books to "facilitate the identification of pass books and to expedite the keeping of accounts by enabling the cashier, or bookkeeper, or other clerk concerned, to readily identify the book of the depositor or other owner and thereby more readily post the entries from one book to another in keeping accounts" (lines 16-22); includes illustration.

Patent for new and useful Improvements in Time-Controlling Mechanism "designed more particularly for the automatic operation of electric switches, circuit closers, and the like" (lines 13-15), including illustrations and instructions. A main object of the invention is to provide a time controlling mechanism for alarm clocks to "intermittently operate the electric switch or other movable member at pre-determined intervals" (lines 19-21).

Patent for the invention of gate which can be opened inward and outward by certain features such as supporting brackets and a spirally grooved shaft that can rotate between brackets.

Patent for a simple and inexpensive andiron that can easily be moved and holds the logs in place. "The invention consists of an andiron having two dogs or members connected together and a fender removably connected to the front of said dogs and extending over the intervening space or opening" (lines 9-14).

Patent for "improvements in clevises or draw-bars for plows and other similar implements" (Lines 8 – 10) including illustrations.

Patent for a rotary boring-drill that can easily be assembled or disassembled without the aid of a special tool, is equipped with removable cutters, has clearance between the cutters to prevent material becoming packed around them, and is arranged to mix material disintegrated by the cutters into a mud.

Patent for a process of manufacturing artificial stone in which “it will not cracked by reason of exposure and which may be readily engraved, impressed or otherwise marked to form letters, characters, emblems and etc….” (Lines 16-20). No illustration.

Patent for a new and improved ant trap. This design "relates to apparatus . . . in which a vessel having an open bottom, but closed top and sides, and containing a furnace for burning obnoxious substances, is projected into or made to form a close joint with the ground, and which has a fan or pump combined with it that causes the fumes from the furnace to enter the ant-holes in the ground. [They] have been . . . attended with so many disadvantages . . . [t]he object of [the] invention is to remove these defects . . . [it] shall be efficient, durable, and labor-saving" (lines 8-25).

Patent for a new and improved compacter. This design "has relation to portable pressure-devices for use in casks, boxes, barrels, or other receptacles; and the invention consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the pointed dogs and cam-levers pivoted together, and in the combination therewith of a pivot-bolt having its nut secured by means of a locking-key" (lines 20-27).

Patent for a new and improved fly fan or brush. This design consists "[i]n an automatic fly fan or brush, a suitable hollow post terminating at its upper end in a casing, a crank-shaft and conical pulley located therein, and gearing connecting the crank-shaft with the pulley-shaft, in combination with a cord connected to the pulley and to a rubber band or cord passing around a pulley at the base of the post, said rubber cord or band at one end being connected thereto, a pitman-rod connecting the crank-shaft with the arm carrying the fan or brush" (lines 84-94).

Patent for a spading-machine that "can be propelled by any mechanism desired and which has soil engaging devices mounted in a novel manner whereby, as the machine is moved forwardly, said devices will be forced downwardly into the soil and then lifted upwardly so as to lift or break the soil."
