Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Job corpswoman Emma Wright, of Honolulu, Hawaii, examines her exhibit. No art work sold at the Oklahoma Science and Arts Foundation Sunday but 300 young artists seemed to care less. After welcoming visitors, the artists, all Job Corps women from Guthrie, cautiously listened to comments on thier work and seemed to savor what they heard. Their eyes showed the exhibition was success. As with all artists, public appreciation gilded their satisfaction on a job well done. No Early Training Unlike most artists, they had little or no trainging and their motives were personal expression, said their arts and crafts director, Mona B. Dougherty. "These girls are learning things they can use the rest of their lives," she added. "What they learn can be put into designing blouses, color combinations in their home or simply what areas of fine arts they like most."
