The Staunton Military Academy includes a paragraph of information is as follows, "Staunton Military Academy. Foremost among the educational institutions of the South is Staunton Military Academy, an English, classical, scientific and military boarding school for boys. It is located on a high bluff overlooking the city, and is conceded to be the finest private military institution in the United States. The cost of construction was about $60,000."
