Patent for a new and improved buckle. This design is "to provide a device to be applied upon the rump of the animal for the purpose of attachment of the back-strap, the trace-bearers or breeching-straps, and the crupper-strap without sewing. [The] device comprises, essentially, a frame carrying a buckle for the attachment of the back-strap and one for the attachment of the crupper, and a loop for retaining the trace or breeching carrying straps or hip-straps" (lines 9-18).

Patent for a "device whereby, in a harness, the back-band and belly-band may readily be connected to a trace-buckle, or a breeching-loop or 'trace-square'" (lines 10-13) without sewing the buckle into other harness pieces.

Patent for a new and improved valve. This design consists in "[t]he improved valve comprising the casing, having a horizontal passage reduced at its central point . . . and a vertical bore intersecting said reduced portion above the point of intersection to its lower end and being screw-threaded its entire length, a stem having a tapered lower portion, the entire stem being screw-threaded to engage the threads in the bore, and a plug removably inserted in the lower end of the bore" (lines 1-11).

Patent for a new and improved wagon brake. This design consists, "with the vehicle, of the rock-shaft arranged upon opposite sides of the rear wheels, the bell-crank lever fulcrumed on the body between said shaft, the rod connecting the rear shaft and one arm of said lever, the bar pivoted to the other arm of the lever and the front rock-shaft, and the operating lever provided with the integral arm arranged at an angle to the lever and connected with the front rock-shaft" (lines 92-101).

Patent for an improved "Combined Corn Husker, Sheller, and Cleaner" (lines 4-6) including instructions and illustrations.

Patent for a strong, simple, and easily-operable lifting-jack meant for use in railroad car-axle boxes. It is a lifting bar with ratchet teeth, a lever that pivots against the lifting bar, a mechanism that holds and releases the bar, a pawl, and a double-arm spring connected to the pawl.

Heretofore persons wearing hats of odd sizes, or after having their hair cut short, have been compelled to place paper, felt, or some other material in between the sweat-band and the body of the hat in order to make the hat fit. These pieces, not being secured, are constantly coming out and are a source of great annoyance" (lines 7-19).

Patent for an improved and inexpensive swing that is foot-operated. The swing is built into a frame, and connects to the frame on two points on each end of the swing.

Patent for an engine valve for air brake systems on trains, which governs the pressure of air released and keeps it steady.

Patent for a fish-grapple device with parts "embodying prongs or hooks which will engage the fish and prevent its escape" (lines 16-17).

Patent for a new and improved spring-hinge. This design consists in "[t]he combination of a hinge having one of its leaves provided with a casing and the other provided with curved projections, the spring arranged in the casing, and the rod engaging said spring and having the curved portion provided with trunnions engaging the said projections" (lines 65-71).

Patent for a new garment-supporter, designed "to provide a simple, inexpensive, and efficient device adapted to support the hose and lower garments from the shoulders and capable of permitting perfect freedom of movement of every part of the body without chafing the same" (lines 12-17), which includes illustrations and instructions.

Patent for "a machine of this class which shall be simple, durable, and inexpensive, which may be readily converted from a corn into a cotton planter, and vice versa, which may be easily and effectively adjusted so as to plant the corn in hills at any desired distance apart, and which shall be in every respect convenient and efficient" (lines 10-17).
