A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Hiram Arrant, Executive Secretary, Hardin-Simmons University dated July 25, 1941. Arrant expresses his appreciation for the part Carswell played in the pageant, "Fifty Years On Forty Acres".

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from E. J. Miller, Lawyer, Brownwood, Texas, dated July 16, 1941. Miller advises Carswell that he is enclosing a copy of the letter which he is writing to Dr. Jeff Davis. He advises that the letter might be of interest since Carswell phoned yesterday afternoon. The attached letter is written to Dr. Jeff Davis, Executive Secretary, United Texas Drys from E. J. Miller, Judge, 35th Judicial District, Brownwood, Texas dated July 16, 1941. Miller reports on the proceedings regarding Ellison vs. Texas Liquor Board, advises to await the action of the Court of Civil Appeals and gives a brief itinerary of his travel and work to date and for the next two weeks requesting further remittance as soon as it may be convenient.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Post Commander of the American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from Mrs. W. E. King, Chairman by Mrs. Malden Lowe, Secretary, The Ladies of the Camp Betterment Committee [Camp Barkeley] dated July 12, 1941. The ladies of the Camp Betterment Committee express their appreciation to Carswell and the members of his Post for the entertainment they provided for patients in the Camp Barkeley hospital.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Post Commander, Parramore Post, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from F. H. LaGuardia, U. S. Director Civilian Defense, Washington, D. C., dated July 3, 1941. LaGuardia expresses his appreciation for the cordial telegram noting that it is not possible to say at the present time when he will be in Texas.

A letter written to F. H. LaGuardia, U.S. Director Civilian Defense, Washington, D.C., from T. N. Carswell, Commander, Parramore Post 57, American Legion, dated July 15, 1941. Carswell issues an invitation to Mayor LaGuardia to visit Abilene when his duties call him to Texas citing Texas will have to contribute effectively to Civilian Defense work because its location will require it.

A letter written to Commander T. N. Carswell, Parramore Post 57, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from F. H. LaGuardia, U. S. Director Civilian Defense, Washington, D. C., dated July 23, 1941. LaGuardia expresses his appreciation for the invitation received by letter and telegram but declines due to a full schedule. In a handwritten postscript LaGuardia sends regards to Tom Blanton.

Leslie acknowledges the receipt of Carswell's communication and advises that the copies requested have, on each occasion, been forwarded in duplicate; one to Battalion Headquarters, one to the Adjutant General.

Brigadier General J. Watt Page expresses his and the Department's appreciation for the splendid, unselfish, and patriotic service performed for the Texas Defense Guard by Carswell and the other inspectors, voluntarily and without cost to the department, saving time and funds.

A letter written to R. M. Wagstaff, Abilene, Texas, from Tom Connally, United States Senate, dated July 7, 1941. Connally refers to a letter from Wagstaff and advises that Mayor La Guardia has intimated to him that his plans of organization have not yet matured.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Chas. E. Coombes, Stamford, Texas, dated June 17, 1941 [July 17, 1941]. Coombes expresses his regret regarding Carswell's request for rodeo tickets that was not complied with. He explains what must have happened and notes that he enclosed an excerpt from a letter that he wrote on a business matter on July 6th which would give Carswell "some idea of the situation". An enclosure included an excerpt from a letter written by Chas. E. Coombes, Stamford, Texas. Written harangue directed to an unidentified correspondent regarding the importance of the Texas Cowboy Reunion, Inc. in comparison to a delay in the distribution of the Colbert funds for Mr. Gee.
