Letter from J. R. Brown to Dr. Joseph Pound describing the sickness that his wife has been experiencing and asking the doctor if he had any suggestions as to how to treat such issues as stomach and bowel problems.

Letter from Fanny Hamilton to Dr. Joseph Pound letting him know she was aware of his impending visit in August, though she asks him to come in September or October as the weather would be cooler and more pleasureful. She goes on to describe their crops and that they have had an abundance or rain leading to a good crop yield.

Letter from A. F. Hicks to Dr. Joseph Pound concerning to developments in the organization of a reunion for the veterans of the Confederate Army in Texas. Hicks says that he has "made arrangements with the citizens of Llano, so that I can issue to the veterans 3 days rations." At the end he tells Pound to "bring your tent, and department flag with you."

Letter from Margaret Kelly to Dr. Joseph Pound discussing her possible inability to come up to visit him and go to the upcoming reunion on account of her sister having gotten sick the other day.

Letter from Ida Moses to Dr. Joseph Pound concerning their trips to Rochester due to her husband George's multiple stomach surgeries: "George was operated upon the first time the 10 of May...when they operated they found cancer." At the end of the letter she notes that his disease is rapidly progressing and he is really fighting a losing battle.

Letter from Ida Moses to her uncle, Dr. Joseph Pound, letting him know that she hopes he will be able to come and visit in the near future; she also hopes that cousins "Dr. and Fannie Hamilton will meet you here next month."

Letter written by D. C. Riley to Dr. Joseph Pound saying at one point that he would love to meet his friend Dr. Powell; later in the letter Riley says: "Show him this letter and if he wishes it I will let him have it" in regards to a certain medicine.

Letter from J. J. Smith to Dr. Joseph Pound concerning an enclosed request for the "Surgeon Gen. of the U. C. V. " to give help "as fully as you can." The second paragraph discusses military numbers and figures.

Letter from Dr. James Steele to Dr. Joseph Pound with regrets that he won't be able to visit at the time he thought he would be able to; Steele says he spends "every Monday morning in San Marcos...and leave on the 1:40 P.M. train in time to reach my office here by 4 P.M." Steele also hopes to meet up with the Pounds in San Marcos one day and let his daughter spend a week with them.
