Rosenberg states that the funding has been sent to Harold Williams, president of the J. Paul Getty Trust, for review yet being unaware of his schedule she cannot give them a specific notification date of the funding approvals or deny. Rosenberg thanks Davis and McCarter for the informative progress report and has made a series of comments and questions that she would like answered and returned no later than September 1, 1994.

Warwick is seeking help to formulate new ideas and ways to put together a UIL Picture Memory Contest for the elementary students. Enclosed in the letter is a list that Warwick asks her colleagues to fill out with further suggestions and to send them back to her before the school year.

Photocopies of evaluations and comments for the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution: An Introduction to Latino Art and Culture, dated June 26 - 28, 1996. The evaluations are rating the quality of the workshop by answering the questions of material, information, topics and other objectives that the exhibit provided. In a letter to Carol Wyrick, July 15, 1996, Bill McCarter apologies for withholding the evaluations but NTIEVA wanted to record the general comments made about the Institute. Some of the comments read as written, "I enjoyed the workshop and learned a lot." "Those of us who teach the younger students found the drawing studies to be of little relevance to the level of production appreciated [by] our students." Other comments continue with the enthusiasm of the quality of materials and the presentations, as well as offer suggestions or provide concerns about the related subject.

Regarding a meeting that fell on June 22, 1995, notably, the participation of Dallas ISD in future activities with the Institute. McCarter starts the letter with the proposal of a new time frame for the Institute activities, and mentions how the meeting brought up the ideas of having all-day Saturday sessions. However, McCarter expresses his concern that some teachers from the Dallas ISD might be unable to attend all-day Saturday sessions, and how important it is that they will attend all the meetings because of how complex the Institute is. Included in the letter is an observation from Chad Woolery, stating that due to budget and time that Dallas would be unable to continue participation with NTIEVA as a consortium member. McCarter addresses that they have had issues with Dallas since they began to participate.

The rest of the letter goes into details about materials and supplies Fletcher needs to obtain for her teachers, along with handbook materials Reynolds has provided for Fletcher.

Hatfield commends Laney on the content provided, and that many interdisciplinary art teachers and their programs don't focus on the student aspect of art learning and art content. Hatfield ends the letter by saying how important it is to keep the focus of the substance in the newsletters.

Saying how much pleasure it has been to work with them these past years but her opinion of them has never been higher then their past meeting on June 27th. Davis and McCarter's presentation was informative and Alford appreciates their efforts towards the Plano District and the students.

The letter describes the terms of use and requires that Davis, McCarter and Elder to sign the attached document. Details of the budget are enclosed with the letter.

In regards Chapman being unable to attend either of the principal's sessions during the 1991 Summer Institute and that the institute was a real success due to the great measure of the contributions of the classroom teachers and art specialists, named as such, Marilyn Duncan, Laurie Bargsley and Pam Stephens. McCarter and Davis end the letter that each school teacher are to complete a plan for the DBAE implementation into their classrooms and that Chapman is to review the plan with his staff.

The letter is in regards to the planned April meeting for discipline-based art education National Dissemination Project. Leilani Lattin Duke and Stankiewicz met to discuss the models that were proposed and have included brief summaries of the three components that they are currently considering and they would appreciated Davis' thoughts. Included in the memo are the DBAE National Dissemination Project Components in further details.

Paul Getty Trust, a private foundation devoted to the visual arts, the humanities and the organizations that run the J. Paul Getty Trust Museum. Munitz is set to take over for Harold M. Williams.

A memorandum from Dr. Kathy Schwartz, Improving Visual Arts Education Consultant, to the IVAE Consultants and Staff. The memo is in regards to the editorial board and membership of the Alaska Art Education Association providing a complementary copy of the debut issues of The Alaska Journal of Art. The issues begins with a keynote article by Harry S. Broudy. The Alaska Journal of Art will be published on an annual basis and invites manuscripts that report on current curriculum practices.

A newspaper clipping featuring an article on California State University chancellor Barry Munitz will leave the university and accept his new position as president and chief executive of the $4.2 billion J. Paul Getty Trust. Munitz will take the position over from Harold M. Williams who is said to retire on his 70th birthday just three-weeks after the opening of the Getty Center in Brentwood.

A proposal from Vicki Rosenberg, program officer at the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, and the Regional Institute Directors, titled "DBAE: What's Working? What's Not?" In the proposal description, the Regional Institute Program is a multi-year project of the Getty Center and represents the most extensive research and development effort in the history of art education in the United States. The purpose of the super session, which they are proposing, is to show that the principals that guide, DBAE, discipline-based art education, is highly flexible and adaptable to many educational contexts.
