Patricia A. Thomas was born in 1957 in Andrews, Texas, where she grew up. She entered elementary school in an integrated school where many of her classmates as well as some teachers physically and verbally abused the African American students. Thomas first attended Lincoln Elementary and then Jack and Jill Elementary. In junior high and high school, Thomas adapted many black nationalists or “radical” viewpoints, which led her to call for the teaching of African American history in her high school. She graduated from Andrews high school in 1976. After high school, Thomas moved to Dallas where she attended Bishop College. She subsequently lived in various communities that included Big Springs, Odessa, Amarillo, and Seminole, Texas.

Evaristo and Benita Albarado talked about the events surrounding the massacre at El Porvenir Ranch (Presidio County) in 1918, when a group of soldiers and Texas Rangers rounded up and shot Mexican American men who lived and worked at Porvenir. The father of Ms. Benita Albarado was a witness of the events, but did not talk about them until late in his life; his testimony motivated the Albarados to research and document the events surrounding the massacre. In addition to sharing the fruits of their efforts to show what really happened at Porvenir, the Albarados talked about growing up in segregated towns in west Texas (Benita Albarado is from Big Spring, while Evaristo Albarado was born and raised in Uvalde). They also talked about the importance of preserving the history of violence along the border, and discussed their collaboration with scholars in the production of an exhibit at the Bullock museum in Austin.

Letter from C. J. Ruilmann to Carl Benken discussing Mr. Dalton's stay at the Big Spring Hospital. He explains that Mr. Dalton was not badly treated in the hospital and regrets that the incident happened. He also agrees that the hospital is understaffed and attests that to a limited budget.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Mrs. Aubrey Hethcoat, Social Case Worker, Big Spring State Hospital, Big Spring, Texas, dated July 26, 1962. Reply from Hethcoat to Carswell's letter of July 23, 1962 regarding trip plans for Mrs. Carswell. She advises of ways to make Mrs. Carswell's trip more comfortable. Read by: Frankie E. Williams, M. A letter written to T. N. Carswell from P. D. O'Brien, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Big Spring, Texas, dated July 26, 1961. O'Brien expresses his pleasure at having the occasion to meet and fellowship with Carswell even if only briefly all these years and reminisces about the "good days at old Simmons College". He expresses his pleasure in doing the favor [witnessing Mrs. Carswell's signature] and for the check which he put into the building fund "hoping it will yield dividends for all eternity".

A letter written to Brother "Dick" [Dr. P. D. O'Brien], Pastor, First Baptist Church, Big Spring, Texas, from T. N. Carswell, dated July 21, 1961. Carswell expresses his appreciation for the service he and Mrs. O'Brien rendered in witnessing Mrs. Carswell's signature to her will requesting that he use the enclosed check for the enlargement plans of their Church.
