According to the "1996 George Ranch Historical Park Interpreter Training Manual", the tree was planted by Nancy Jones in 1824 and is located in the George Ranch house yard. The tree house was added by Albert Peyton and Mamie George for Mary Jones, daughter of Mamie's cousin Henry Jones. In this photograph, the tree house spiral stairway is blocked by two wooden braces. A long pole is supporting the limb on which the tree house sits (to left). A rope swing is hanging front a branch and visible in center foreground. Unidentified group of people in the adult section of the Denton City-County Public Library on opening day. The windows are open facing Austin Street and there are several plants on the table and windowsills. Map of Denton County

Hand-drawn map of Denton County by Mrs. Sena Mounts Wright behind the checkout desk at the Denton City-County Public Library (now called the Denton Public Library). According to an article from the January 26, 1949 issue of the Denton Record-Chronicle, the mural was commissioned by the Parent-Teacher Association. It was painted by Mrs. Irene Grady directly onto the wall. She added a border to each side of the map depicting the old cattle brands of Denton County.
