To emphasizw the growing toll from traffic accidents, the 45th Division pulled 300 men out of their training schedule at summer camp and lined them up in a pyramid of humans for this picture. As of Monday morning, 302 persons had died on state roads so far in 1966. The state national guard division is extremely safety conscious. it achieved a spotless record over the Memorial Day weekend by moving 8,000 men to Fort Chaffee, Ark., in 1,400 vehicles without a single scratch."

The wings of the building, going up to the west of the OCU administration building, are expected to be finished by autumn. the tower, however, won't be finished until 1951. The building will house the library and school religion, with office space and library stacks on the tower. Workmen are now installing the steelwork for the tower. the building is a memorial to Methodist men and women who died in World War II."

Caption: "Three businesses in downtown El Reno were destroyed by a fire that wiped out a quarter of a block Monday night and threatened to engulf the main shooping district in what was described as the town's "worst fire in 20 years." Damage estimated ranged up to $500,000. Flames roaring 75 to 80 feet in the air swept through the Fryberger building, a three-story structure housing the Brinkley furniture store, the Parks Furniture and appliance and the C. R. Anthony store. Two firemen were overcome by smoke, but no serious injuries were reported...Fire chief Leroy Searcy placed the damage at more than $100,000, but insurancemen estimated $500,000. Searcy called it the city's costliest fire in 20 years...Still burning but under control at midnight, the fire spread to the city hall to the rear of the Anthony's shortly after 6 p.m. When a cloud of smoke and sparks exploded from the inferno. Minor fire damage was done to the city hall, but heavy losses were caused by smoke and water. Flames from three burning stores lighted downtown El Reno Monday night in the city's worst fire of 20 years."

Fred Harris, a member of Humphrey's party, called to him. "Chief," Harris said, "Chief, I'd like you to meet my mentor." Introducing state Sen.
