Comparison of Thermal Effectiveness and Crevice Corrosion Risk of Fin Geometry on All-Aluminum Microchannel Heat Exchangers

Article all-aluminum microchannel heat exchangers have recently gained popularity in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry. Despite their attractive thermal performance design, these heat exchangers make coils used in automotive, commercial, and residential applications prone to crevice corrosion. This study uses high-fidelity conjugate heat transfer simulations to model a micro channel heat exchanger system that includes fins and tubes with crossflow to compare their thermal effectiveness to gain insight into potential crevice corrosion of the MCHE alloy.

It also explored perspectives (including attitudes and possible barriers) for development of large-scale regional portals that would facilitate discovery of Arab digital archives (including language collections) by aggregating metadata. It was presented at the 2nd International Workshop on Digital Language Archives held on June 30, 2023 as part of the ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries 2023.

Metabolic and transcriptomic study of pennycress natural variation identifies targets for oil improvement

Article describes how, although pennycress, a winter annual, could be grown as a dedicated bioenergy crop, an increase in its seed oil content is required to improve its economic competitiveness. In this work, the authors combined biomass composition with metabolomic and transcriptomic studies of developing embryos from 22 pennycress natural variants to identify targets for oil improvement.

Charumohan Rabha tells the traditional narrative 'Bakso Barairi kahini' about how Rabha clans were formed, including the Bakso, Torang, and Lem clans. In this story, villagers offered a girl to the snake king who lived in the hills every year. The main characters are two brothers who save a beautiful girl from being fed to the snake king by cheating him with a banana tree. Finally they succeeded, and the snake king was killed by the villagers. From then on, the villagers lived peacefully without fear. The clans were formed based on the roles the villagers played in defeating the snake king.

Experimental and Modeling Study of Water Time Histories during H2S-N2O Combustion in a Shock Tube

Article describes how, in the present study, the water formation was followed by laser absorption with N2O as an oxidant, instead of O2. Three H2S/N2O mixtures diluted in 98% Ar were studied to cover the following range of equivalence ratios: 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0, over a wide range of temperatures (1580–1940 K) around atmospheric pressure.

Gemini Near Infrared Spectrograph–Distant Quasar Survey: Prescriptions for Calibrating UV-based Estimates of Supermassive Black Hole Masses in High-redshift Quasars

Article describes how the most reliable single-epoch supermassive black hole mass (MBH) estimates in quasars are obtained by using the velocity widths of low-ionization emission lines, typically the Hβλ4861 line. The authors find that utilizing both emission lines, where available, reduces the scatter of UV-based MBH estimates by ∼15% when compared to previous studies.
