This article demonstrates the refinement and uniform distribution of the crystalline dendritic phase by friction stir processing of titanium based in situ ductile-phase reinforced metallic glass composite.

Exceptional Friction Mitigation via Subsurface Plastic Shear in Defective Nanocrystalline Ceramics
This article reports that atomic layer deposition {0002}-textured ZnO films, with nanocolumnar grains and defective sub-stoichiometric structure, exhibit nanocrystalline plasticity and exceptionally low sliding friction and wear.
