A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Sam Russell, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated June 14, 1946. Russell acknowledges his receipt of the letter from Carswell in which was enclosed a copy of the letter written by Carswell to the President with reference to Vatican representation. Russell advises that the matter has never come before the Congress, if it did that he would oppose such actions. He advises that the President has been appointing Mr. Taylor as his personal representative, paying him out of contingent funds.

Letter from John Sayles to David W. Stephens discussing the Gulf Pipe Line Co. vs. Fulton and Fulton vs Gulf Pipe Co. et all. The case had moved to the 104th District Court with no trail date set. Mr. Sayles was reaching out to Mr. Stephens to let him know that unless these cases are tried pretty soon it will be inconvenient for Mr. Sayles to participate.

Letter from John Sayles to David W. Stephens stating that resetting the Underwood case to the next week may not be possible due to another breach of the promise of marriage case that will be tried all week. However, it may be possible to reset it to the week of July 11. Sayles asks what Stephens wishes to do about the matter.

Letter from T. S. Whiteley to Henry Sayles discussing construction of a railway by the Pecos & Northern Texas Railway Company. The company has filed a deed to secure a $30,000 bond.

Subpoena issued by the Taylor County sheriff's office requiring W. H. Rawlings and the unknown heirs of W. H. Rawlings to appear in court to answer a petition filed in suit no. 2826 seeking to condemn property in Taylor County for use by the Abilene & Southern Railway Company. This document appears to be a draft and has handwritten corrections to the text.

Letter from Chas. A. Malone and Frank Hill to Henry Sayles discussing overloads in a power plant. The Wichita Falls Water & Light Company is losing business because of these overloads. Malone and Hill discuss projects under construction that need wiring as well as prices for their own machinery.

Letter from John Sayles to David W. Stephens discussing the Gulf Pipe Line Company vs. D. C. Dean suit. Neither Dean nor his attorney attended the hearing. An order has been prepared to dissolve the restraining order and discharge the plaintiff from any bond liability.

Letter from F. W. Hughes to Henry Sayles saying he was not sure it was a good idea to divide his ranch, but supposes it will be easier to sell. Hughes is anxious for the mineral well deed to be in better shape.

Letter from John Ben Shepperd to Truett Latimer discussing how he missed seeing Latimer in Abilene and thanking him for the political encouragement he previously wrote.

A letter addressed to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from W. Lee O'Daniel, United States Senator, Texas, dated June 14, 1946. O'Daniel confirms that the action Carswell mentioned was not sanctioned by the Congress and he has, therefore, presented all formal protests made by church organizations to the Secretary of State.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from Mrs. Pearl Baggett, Secretary to Superintendent, Blackwell, Oklahoma, dated June 14, 1965. Baggett advises that she found no relative information concerning Dr. Cyrus N. Ray but suggests that he write to the local newspaper, The Journal Tribune, to a Mrs. Helen Seubert.

A letter written to Walter Jennings from T. N. Carswell dated June 14, 1948. Carswell requests approval from Jennings to have his address to the Exes published under the "imprimatur" of the University.

A form letter addressed to All Posts, 17th District, from W. J. Wisdom, 17th District Commander, The American Legion, Stephenville, Texas, dated June 14, 1943. Wisdom advises of his decision to leave his command at the American Legion to report to the United Service Organization, wanting to get into the Army, but that this will be as close as he gets. He refers to the vacant room of his lad of eighteen, just like the countless other vacant rooms throughout the land and makes the appeal, "I urge, implore and beg of you to be about our country's business, and be the kind of American those absent boys expect you to be."
