Davis and McCarter also write that they are pleased that the Getty Center for Education in the Arts has sent, to Allen's school board president, a package of materials related to enhancing student achievements through art education. Included with the packet is a questionnaire which asks for a report of any action the board has taken in response to the guide to enhancing student achievements.

Asking if he recalls the lasting Advisory Committee meeting they had in which they set two priority goals. Their first goal to seek continued support for their Portfolio project and their second, to generate potential names for additional committee members. In the letter Davis, McCarter and Reynolds are pleased to report that the Edward and Betty Marcus Foundation has agreed to fully fund the portfolio project and it will be underway once their Summer Institute project is over. In the letter, they ask Anthony if he has any recommendations for committee members and to contact them through note of phone call. Additionally in the letter are details about the Institute's schedule for the summer, and a formal invitations for Anthony to join any them if his schedules allows.

Letter from Raymond Nichols of Fort Worth, Texas to Rosa Walston Latimer in which he describes his employment as a pantry boy, night waiter, and then night manager at the Cleburne Harvey House, as well as his following success as an owner in the restaurant industry, starting the Lone Star Drive In Restaurant chain in Fort Worth and Dallas and eventually becoming a millionaire.

A memo from Vicki Rosenberg, program officer, Getty Center for Education in the Arts, to the Regional Institute Grant Project Directors. The memo is in regards to the Getty Center providing a grant to the Education Writers Association for a special 12-page issues of High Strides, a bi-monthly newsletter that "emphasizes reporting on programs which encourage high support, high expectations and strong academic content." The memo is in regards to the resignation of Julie Abel, program associate, effective June 4, 1992. Delores McMullen will replace Abel beginning June 22 through early September, as Abel may rejoin the staff at that time.

A letter from Leilani Lattin Duke, Director of the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, to Jack Davis, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. The letter is in regards to prior correspondence between Davis and Duke from a letter on May 22, and which involved a recommendation that the Center consider providing a session at the next NAEA convention on the progress of the Regional institutes. Duke agrees that the timing is right and the program is far along that they can provide substantive report on what they are learning, what problems continue to perplex them and what is working. Duke and Vicki Rosenberg agreed to talk about the idea after her return at the end of June.

A letter from Leilani Lattin Duke, Director of the Getty Center for Education in the Arts, to Jack Davis and William McCarter, co-directors of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. The letter is in regards to Davis and McCarter's prior correspondence with Duke where they said the NAEA Distinguished Service Award to the Center was a gratifying experience as the award recognizes the tremendous contributions, including the institutes staff.
