Photograph of Cecil Presfield driving amphibious car returning Mrs. Jim Presfield home from work along with the Presfield children and neighbos Dan Condo's children home from school. During floods Sans Bois Creek overflows into the Grassy Lake area cutting off all access roads. They must use boat, amphicar, or horses to cross the 10 to 12 feet of water over the roads. Presfield has 500 acres, most in Sans Bois bottom. He lost 2 calves in this flood. In the last previous flood he lost 8 head from pneumonia after swimming out to high ground.

Floodwater after a 4 inch run off rain - this is 1 mile north of Site 41, Big Wewoka. Site 41 did not go around the emergency spill. There is about 1500 acre watershed that comes into the creek just behind the structure.

A test to determine whether rye can be grown for cover crop and whether grass can be established in growing rye. View from the southeast corner of Field No. 7 — 3.1 acres. Rye seeded on 9-25-67. Fertilized 250 pounds of 10-20-10 fertilizer at planting time. Top dressed 250 pounds 33-0-0 February 1968. Since native grass drill was not available, field was roto-tilled and native grass was overseeded with an E-Z Flow spreader on March 26, 1968. Rye showed considerable chlorosis at that time and stand was also weakened by tillage. See foreground. OK-3118-5.
