Letter from John J. Herrera to A.L. Wirin stating that Herrera is glad to hear that the report of Latin Americans in Texas prisons was found satisfactory, and that Herrera and Ralph Guzman had interviewed the plaintiffs and compiled the information needed for the case.

Letter to All League of United Latin American Citizens Councils from Arturo Vasquez, National Treasurer July 5, 1955. Vasquez requests Councils of LULAC to come together and pay their fines and make sure that all financial matters are in order before the end of his service as Treasurer. Vasquez mentions that if financial matters are not in order, that the council will not be recognized at the National Convention.

Onionskin paper carbon copy of letter from John J. Herrera to Dr. José Maldonado, Chairman of the LULAC Convention Committee, dated May 5, 1953. Letter originally had pictures requested by the committee enclosed. The letter lists candidates for positions of National President and Second National Vice-President.

Letter to Ed Idar, Jr. from an unknown source, informing Idar that John J. Herrera announced that he would be a candidate to the Legislature for "place 5 from Harris County." The author of the letter states that Herrera was convinced to run by "a group of businessmen, including Jewish and Negro Leaders." The letter also explains Herrera's platform to run for Legislature: "jury service for women, no sales tax, no tax increase of any kind, and he is very to backing up on the wetback problem as is possible within state Jurisdiction." Copies of the letter were sent to Hector P. Garcia and Chris Alderete.
