Returning to Alfalfa

Photograph of a field to be returned, by irrigation, to alfalfa. Irrigation well will be located in the foreground. Alfalfa was produced in this field for about 30 years prior to 1934, with irrigation water supplied from the Beaver River. Impossible to take water from river since floods have cut the bank of the creek.

Photograph of an earth dam near Kenton, OK. Dam has approx. 75,000 sq. yards of fill, approx. 2000 ft. long and will impound water over approximately 700 acres. The water will be used to irrigate 400 acres. It has a drainage area of 22.5 sections. During the dryest years there has been enough run-off water to fill the lake three times. OK-363.
