In regards to NTIEVA, for extending an opportunity for Edwards employees of Dallas to attend the discipline-based art education (DBAE) workshop. Edwards writes that their program looks beneficial in expanding the teachers art strategies, however, due to budgeting concerns they are unable to participate this year but hope they will be reached out in the future.

Photocopy of a memorandum from Pat Warde, Center for Continuing Education and Conference Management, to Ruby Raines, saying that Cathy Mages just called from the Sheraton hotel concerning the special weekend pages that the hotel had put together for the people attending the program of June 1. In the memorandum, standard packages of the hotels services are described for anyone who is interested in staying with the Sheraton that evening, and to make reservations in advanced. Copied on the letter is Bill McCarter.

In regards of Dallas participation in the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. McCarter writes that after reviewing their budget they have found that they will be able to fund one team from DISD for the first year at the Institute. After that one year they are going to discuss the re-entry of Dallas into the five year plan after discussing with the Getty Center about more funding. McCarter hopes to meet up with Dunn to discuss finer details in an upcoming meeting.

Photocopy of a letter from Anne Lindsey, Director of the Southeast Institute for Education in the Visual Arts of the University of Tennessee, to Nancy Cason, Project Coordinator of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. In regards to a meeting Lindsey had with Cason in discussion Lindsey was able to offer assistance and recommendations to video tapes for Cason's planning of the upcoming institute. Lindsey has loaned out the video tapes and writes that she doesn't expect them any time before July and hopes that Cason will be interested in them.

The purpose of the program is to contribute to the improvement of education in the US at elementary, middle and high school levels through effective approaches which apply new technologies, new knowledge about learning and teaching. IBM will support individual projects for a during of three to five years, and will accept proposal that following their guidelines and fit their criteria.

A letter from W. Dwaine Greer, Director of IVAE, to William McCarter, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. The letter will serve as the contract as an art education consultant to the Getty NDN Project, Improving Instruction in Visual Arts Education (IVAE). The letter states that Davis will have to abide by the criteria and procedures set for art education consultants and be available for consulting. Greer needs McCarter to sign and date the letter in the space provided to signify his understanding and agreement of the contents.

Discussing a planned a meeting for the art specialists and coordinators, of their consortium participating in the Institute, for Saturday May 19th, at 10:00 am, in office Room 302 of the Historical Building. At the meeting the art specialists will be responsible for presenting their commercial art packages to the Institute with the objective of promoting ways implementing art programs into existing curriculum. A letter from Phillip Charles Dunn, Program Officer for The Getty Center for Education in the Arts, to R. William McCarter, Co-director for the North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts and Professor of Art at the University of North Texas, about A Survey of Art in Elementary Children's Literature from Prehistoric to Modern Times by Barbara Ivy. McCarter had sent a copy of the document to Dunn for advice on how to publish. Dunn suggest the document could be publish through the Educational Resources Information Clearing House (ERIC) and to contact Gil Clark at Indiana University.
