[A Handbook for Air Raid Wardens]

Booklet titled "A Handbook for Air Raid Wardens," which was one of a series of handbooks published by the United States Office of Civilian Defense instructing civil defense workers in their duties. The handbook includes information regarding the chain of command and equipment for air raid wardens, duties prior to an air attack, reporting procedure, coordination of services, home preparation and response to an air raid, and how to handle specific types of attacks (magnesium bombs, gases, etc.). Throughout the manual are pages to be filled in by the individual air warden, such as: the names and telephone numbers of the administrative officers at the precinct and city levels; where to send reports; and general notes.

She tells them that she cannot write much about her travels but that she is eating well, getting a tan, and has not gotten sea sick. She suggests her family pass the letter along, since it is futile to write letters to several people when there is nothing to write about.
