Patent for an adjustable, simple, and easily used mosquito-canopy for beds that fits over any style and size of bed, and is easily removed.

Patent for an animal trap meant to trap animals that burrow in the ground, such as prairie dogs. The trap catches the animal when it leaves its den and the animal cannot escape the trap.

Patent for a buckle "wherein a closed frame or box is employed that is formed with a smooth exterior surface to avoid contact with and injury to the animals on which it is used, and prevent the reins from contacting therewith, and dispensing with the use of a guard thereover; and at the same time producing a secure fastening that is applied to straps without the necessity of the employment of stitches or other modes of fastening" (lines 9-18).

Patent for an improved machine that sinks caissons into gravel or mud in order to make a foundation for breakwater, jetty, bridge, or similar purpose. It applies continuous and heavy pressure to the caisson during operation, and "is provided with a jet apparatus to force the sand and mud from within the caisson and cause it to settle around the outer portion of the same, thus holding it firmly in place, and which in general enables a caisson foundation to be laid with great facility and in a substantial manner" (lines 20-26).

Patent for an improved, durable, and efficient car couple that can be operated from one side of the car for the safety of the operator. The draw-head is newly designed.

Patent for a car coupling that "couples automatically and by which a brakeman on a single car can uncouple one or more cars and to provide pipe connections between the cars for this and other purposes" (lines 9-13). It has a pivoted drawhead with lever connections to a piston head and uses steam connections with the cylinder in the piston head to couple.

Patent for a vertical hook car coupling that also couple air-brakes. In the invention "the drawheads are provided with interlocking tongues to prevent the disconnection of the drawheads by vertical movement; the interlocking faces of the drawheads are provided with sockets to receive a plug for completing the air passage for the train pipes; the drawheads are provided with means for receiving the ordinary hose-coupling on cars not provided with [the] drawhead, and finally other features of [the] invention are the means for securing the drawhead to the car and for uncoupling" (lines 14-25).

Patent for a car coupling that safe and can be operated without the operator going between cars. It consists of a car, a draw-head, a pin, a guide, a plate that holds the pin, a spring arm, and handles.

Patent for a churn with an improved "construction of working body churns, to effect a rapid production of butter, and to enable the temperature of the contents of the churn to be readily controlled and regulated to facilitate churning" (lines 11-15).

Patent for a coffee pot that has "a movable handle whereby the same may be placed on the opposite side of the pot from the spout or to one side thereof as may be preferred" (lines 18-21). It also has an acting slide or valve that keeps the spout closed when liquids are not being poured out of it.

Patent for a combined cigar tip cutter and match-safe that consists of a shaft, an operating lever, a match box under the lever, a link that attaches the match box to the lever, a coiled spring that is attached to the lever, a curved lever that is lined up to the other lever, a spring connecting the two levers, and a picker.

Patent for a simple, inexpensive, and effective combined plow and harrow that can be used as a plow and harrow at the same time, or the operator can detach one and only use the other. The machine can be adjusted to better suit different types of soil.

Patent for an improvement on the inventor's previous patent (No. 450,657). The improvements include getting rid of the sleeve, and "employ[ing] volute springs instead of the straight flat springs formerly used; [the inventor] also dispense[s] with the links and connect the inner ends of the springs to long pitmen which have a pivotal connection with the suction rod at a point above the springs; [the inventor] furthermore provide[s] a means for adjusting the tension of the springs without altering the connection of the same with the suction rod" (lines 23-31).

Patent for a surface trolley for electric railways that operates "upon the surface of the pavement or ground between the tracks of the road, for connecting the car with the motor power, in place of the trolley and over head wires now suspended upon the unsightly poles in the center or at the sides of the street, which are found to be very objectionable on account of their obstructing the passageway in the streets and upon the side walks, and the wires preventing the free movement of fire companies in extending their ladders in gaining access to buildings, and also because of the great danger attending persons and animals moving about in the street, on account of the charged or live wires frequently being thrown down upon the ground, and coming in contact with and destroying the life of persons, and also on account of the frequent fatal accidents to persons having charge of the repair of the wires and other apparatus in connection with them, often coming in contact with live wires while elevated on the poles and engaged in repairing them" (lines 16-38).

Patent for feeders and cleaners for cotton gins: "provide a combined feeder and cleaner for cotton gins which is not only thoroughly and effectually cleans cotton before it passes to the gin, but at the same time it regularly and positively feeds the cotton to the gin in such cleaned condition" (lines 10-15).

Patent for a simple and inexpensive cotton scoop and is "adapted to have its tines yield to facilitate its insertion in a mass of cotton" (lines 13-14).

Patent for a cultivator that is easily adjustable and works between rows of plants. It consists of two expansible side-beams, a fixed cross bar, sliding cross bars, pivoted rods, and a toothed lever latch.

Patent for an improved trimming-table that easily measures, holds, and cuts or trims fabrics. It consists of a table with measures, keepers that are attached to the top of the table with a stem, and an arched front portion that ends in a foot-piece.

Patent for an extension brace for ladders that improves on the inventor's previous patent (No. 416,413). The invention's parts "are positively raised and lowered by means of direct acting mechanism which is so constructed and arranged as to obtain the most beneficial results from a comparatively small application of power, the parts being strong and durable easily operated and readily understood" (lines 20-26).

Patent for a fire-escape that uses ropes and pulleys held up by brackets and attached to a window. A receptacle is at the end of the rope and is designed to lower people from the building to the ground.

Patent for a fire escape "with a cord or rope of suitable length which has at one end a weight to serve as a projectile to facilitate throwing the cord or rope to a person at any part of the burning building, after which the fire-escape or other device necessary for the purpose may be conveniently elevated to the window or other portion of the building where most needed for the rescue of person or property" (lines 14-22). It is adapted to assist firemen.

Patent for a hay press that is meant to "check the rebound of the plunger so that the working beam or lever will not be thrown against the horse; also to provide for automatically applying a brake for the purpose of checking the rebound; also to provide for cushioning the rebound of the plunger so as to prevent or check its tendency to throw the toggle elver against the main lever; also to provide for automatically giving a signal or alarm to indicate when a bale of a given size has been compressed; also to improve the construction of the tie box portion of the press; also to generally improve the construction of parts" (lines 17-30).

Patent for a head-rest for chairs.

Patent for "an improved method of indexing books of reference, and more especially city and county records, and the means for carrying over from one line to another where several indexes are to be set opposite one name" (lines 9-14).
