Patent for the concept of an artificial tomb that serves as a tomb and ornamental piece made as one. "This invention relates to certain improvements in artificial-stone tombs; and it has for its object to produce a tomb with head-stone and foo-piece all in one piece that can be built up or placed immediately over grave, so as to form an ornamental finish, at a comparatively small cost." (lines 15-22) including illustrations and instructions.

Patent for improvements in wire stretchers by using a T-shaped lever “to stretch the wire readily to the desired tension, and is capable of maintaining the wire at that tension until after stapling or otherwise fastening the same to a post.” (Lines 61-65) Illustration is included.

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design "comprises a draw-head slotted from top to bottom, and having at its forward end an incline, a peculiar latch to engage automatically with the slot in the draw-head, a pivoted weight for holding the latch in position, and a lever pivoted in the draw-head and operated from the outside for throwing up the latch and uncoupling the car" (lines 15-22).

1835 letter of Col. Nicholas Copeland to his son-in-law Martin Bridgman of Arkansas, enticing him to move to Texas. The letter discusses the price of land and cattle, as well as the profitability of crops such as cotton and corn. Copeland adds a note for Harry Currin, a free African-American, stating that Texas is a safe place to settle. His land grant (settlement & fortification) described in the letter was 25 miles west of the Trinity River just before crossing the Navasota River. This letter was written at Robbins' Ferry on the Old San Antonio Road at the crossing of the Trinity River (letters went east from there to be carried & put in the US mail system).
