Patent for a new and improved ventilator. This design is "to provide a ventilator which shall automatically accommodate or turn the collecting-hood thereof to the direction in which the wind is blowing, to collect and conduct fresh pure air into buildings, cars, &c.; to provide means for regulating the distribution of the air to the compartments or different parts of the buildings, &c.; to diminish the friction and wear between the swiveled collecting-hood and its supporting devices whereby said hood and its attached vane are enabled to turn more freely and readily" (lines 17-29).

This design consists in "the combination, with the hopper and the seed-slide therein having one end projecting from one end of the hopper, of the reciprocating yoke having its rear portion angular in cross-section and its front portion cylindrical in cross-section and having an arm at one end to engage the opening in the projecting end of the seed-slide, the angular and cylindrical bearings for the respective parts of the yoke, whereby the latter may be unshipped from or attached to the seed-slide, and the mechanism to reciprocate the yoke" (lines 71-83).
